The painting features Mahaprabha Thampuratti (princess) of Mavelikara, Ravi Varma’s daughter holding her daughter Sethu Lakshmi Bayi who became Maharani (queen) of Travancore. Princess Mahaprabha is eagerly waiting for her husband to come back home.

There comes papa is another delicate version of portraying motherhood through a contemporary Indian wealthy outset. The princess wears traditional Kerala outfit consists of gold-bordered white sari, trinkets, red dot (it is called ‘bindi’ in India) at forehead, and nose pin. The red drapers lying aside added a great flavour to the prosperous and affluent pitch for this painting.
