Middle East: Experience the Rising Tourism of the Arab States
Despite the world-known conflicts that have taken place historically in the region, the Middle East has seen one of the biggest leaps in the number of visitors in as little as a year’s time. Once, its number of visitors had jumped from 20 million to 60 million, more than doubling the number in any year.
The Middle East is home to 74 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including but not limited to the archaeological sites of Cyrene and Leptis Magna, the old cities of Sana’a and Shibam, and the historic city of Cairo.
Religious tourism, however, is the bulk of most travels in the Middle East. Aside from the world famous pilgrimage to Mecca, the region is also home to many places that have been noted in biblical verses, such as the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, and of course, the Isreal. This is because, historically, the Middle East has been the birthplace of many religions that are being practiced today, including Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Just like its many countries, the art scene in the Middle East is also quite rich. Doha is riddled with famous art galleries that depict the artistic talents of Qatar, such as the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Museum of Qatar and the Katara Art Center.
While there’s Abu Dhabi and its galleries featuring both local and foreign works of art. There’s also Art Dubai, where they purely showcase what’s being made in the region. All these and more are making the Middle East rise in the art market, rivalling their foreign counterparts.
Visit the Middle East and not only watch religion play an important part in the rise of an entire civilization amidst the historical hardships, but also get to witness the kind of art and culture that only their kind of identity can create.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_facebook][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_googleplus][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”5″ item=”8253″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1548416244432-4162fa5a-87a9-0″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
